Stop me if you heard this before. The Ducks are on a monster losing streak.

This is frustrating, as a Ducks fan we are used to being at the top of the standings and in the mix come this point of the season. Although it can be argued we are still in the mix, just a point out of a playoff spot (which plenty of teams would kill for) it’s hard to not look at that and be upset knowing that we could have separated ourselves from the pack.

The Ducks have not won a game since December 17th, 2018. The win came against the Penguins who we are playing tonight. If we all remember correctly, the next night playing the Rangers we were tied late in the 3rd when a puck trickled through Chad Johnson into the back of the net and the hockey gods have not looked back since. We are 0-6-3 in our last 9 games. People will blame the injuries, people will say it was bad luck, people will say be patient, but for an NHL team to be doing this while they are supposed to be starting the playoff run is unacceptable. The games vs Arizona and Ottawa we literally gave away. Easy points that we just let go. We were embarrassed by a really bad Edmonton team, and right now show no signs of life. I am a die-hard Ducks fan, but even for me it’s hard to be excited about this team.

I think we are all frustrated that the Ducks appear to do nothing to change this. Earlier we had a 7 game losing streak and we all called for a coaching change, which we did not get. Okay, the Ducks turned it around and started winning some games. Now here we are with a 9 game losing streak and counting and we refuse to make a change. Are we holding out making a coaching change until next season? Do the higher ups know something we don’t? We must remember that in the actual year of 2018 (plus partly into 2019) this team was swept and embarrassed out of the playoffs to a Sharks team who lost in the second round, suffered a 7 game losing streak, and now a 9 and counting game losing streak.

What more does this team have to do? If it was not for our lone (and deserving) all-star John Gibson, I think we would be sitting right where LA is. So we wait around and hope that our recycled coach can figure it out, while wasting another year of our veteran Captains career and not helping the confidence of what could and should be the next Vezina winning goaltender?

The team looks flat, you don’t see them lashing out or showing emotion in the games like we saw the Avalanche do, you can see on their Instagram stories after games where we lose for the countless time in a row, that they are having a great time playing video games or sitting around laughing with friends. I don’t know, maybe I am just venting now, but what I do know is the culture of winning with the Ducks is going to be gone soon and we have to look at our management and wonder why they are letting this happen.
