Anthony Davis was introduced on July 13, 2019 as the next superstar to join the Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers GM, Rob Pelinka called him the most complete basketball player in the league. “There is nothing he can’t do. He can shoot, he can make plays, he can defend 1-5, he can protect the rim, he can handle the ball”.
Anthony Davis in the last 3 years has averaged 27.3 PPG, 11.6 RPG and 2.4 BPG. His numbers have been MVP level but he hasn’t had the right team to showcase his skills and win games in the regular season. Davis has reached the playoffs twice as an 8th seed and 6th seed. In order to win the MVP, you must have a top 3 seed in your conference. The Lakers are stacked and ready to be a top 3 team in the Western Conference next year. The last thing Davis needs is a winning team to win the MVP.
Anthony Davis must also play at least 75-80 games next season. He stated during his introductory press conference that he’s 26 years old and is ready to play. As LeBron James gets older, he will probably be on load management during the regular season. This gives Davis the opportunity to show that he can lead the Lakers to victories in LeBron’s absence.
The key to the Lakers championship hopes rests on Anthony Davis shoulders.
