The new season is here. The postseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers have found themselves playing into October for the seventh straight season and are facing a familiar foe in the National League Divisional Series with the Washington Nationals.

These are two teams with superstars and many positions and should be an exciting series. The only weakness on each time, are actually, the same. The Nationals have blown 29 saves, tied for the most in the National League. The team they are tied with is their opposition in the Dodgers. The bullpen is going to be a major factor in this best of five.

The similarities do not end there. They both have MVP candidates in Cody Bellinger and Anthony Rendon. They have more than once ace in their pitching staffs – Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg for the Nationals, and Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw. That doesn’t even account for who is toeing the rubber tonight for the Nationals, Patrick Corbin, who has owned the Dodgers in the last five games, or Hyun-Jin Ryu who has the lower ERA in the majors.

While the NL may not have the mammoths the American League does in the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, the Dodgers are going to have plenty of challenges on their side of the bracket. It all starts on Thursday, October 3rd. Will they get off to a 1-0 start, or hope to avoid a 0-2 deficit going out to the nation’s capital?

This postseason starts off the same way as it has the last two years – the Dodgers are 11 wins away from their first title in 31 years.
