As fans of the Los Angeles Kings, we knew this could happen.
The fact that 3 players are already gone, with more possibly gone in the next week, is a little overwhelming. It hurts, it stings but we have to remember this is a business.

A little over a week after the Kings traded goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford the Kings made another move and, this one too was a little surprising. The Kings traded forward Tyler Toffoli to the Vancouver Canucks for forward Tim Schaller, prospect Tyler Madden, a 2020 2nd round pick and a conditional 4th round pick in 2022.

Tyler Toffoli was a homegrown King.

He came up through the minors and made his way onto the roster, becoming a solid two-way NHL player for the Kings. Toffoli won 2 Stanley Cup championships, assisting on the cup-winning goal in 2014. He wasn’t flashy and he did not lead the league in scoring but he was productive and effective.

This trade, just like the Campbell and Clifford trade, hit Kings fans hard. These were players, except Campbell, who were ride and die Kings and helped them win 2 Stanley Cups. Like it was mentioned before this is a business and anyone, at any time, can be moved.

This begins a new Kings’ era as we move to the future.

The Kings have the No. 1 prospect pool, with talent in the pipeline and all soon to be called up to the big leagues.

The Kings did get some value for these players, including 4 total draft picks,2 NHL quality players and a pretty good prospect in Madden. Madden has been rumored to be compared to Toffoli.

What do you think about the trades made? Are the Kings done trading now?
