As the pandemic continues and we see our 2nd month without hockey we look at the little things to give us joy.
For me, it’s looking at various Los Angeles King roster and imagining what would happen if (insert scenario here).
This week maybe it would be interesting if we had a Kings’ “scrimmage game” consisting of players from various years.
Presented below are said rosters for your viewing pleasure.
The first team would include:
- Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky at center
- Alex Frolov at left-wing
- Ziggy Palffy at right-wing
- Norris Trophy winner Drew Doughty, Steve Duchesne at defense
- Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Quick in between the pipes
On the other side of the ice the second team consists of:
- Center Anze Kopitar
- Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille at left-wing
- Hockey Hall of Famer Jari Kurri at right-wing
- Defensemen are Rob Blake and Alec “jazz hands” Martinez
- Kelly Hrudey is in goal
These teams are pretty- even overall. There are stars all around, comprised of many players who made Los Angeles Kings viable again. They all have played an important role at some point in a Kings sweater and have their place in Kings’ history.
This game would most likely not come close to happening but it is nice to think about the possibilities.
These rosters were interesting to piece together as there are many players in the history of the Kings. This was also fun, placing players from different generations on a team together. This may become a weekly thing, with different roasters of course.
Would you love to see this be a weekly feature while hockey is on hiatus, or would you like to see another feature every week?
