We now know the playoff scenario.
We now know the NHL draft date and when the draft lottery is.
What we do not know is what free agency will bring, if anything. Although they have little money, The Los Angeles Kings do have some options.
These are 7 players that could possibly catch the eye of the Kings.
Center, Frederick Gaudreau (NSH)
He is 27 and has a cap hit of $666,666. Valuable and smart player who can play on the 3rd line and give it stability.
Goaltender, Kasimir Kaskisuo (TOR)
He is 26, cap hit of $675,000. Could stabilize the goaltending position in L.A. or Ontario and teach the prospects, and Spencer Martin (TB), 25, has a cap hit of $700,000.
Defensemen, Dakota Mermis (NJ)
He is 26, has a cap hit of $700,000 and could serve as a 6th or 7th defensemen in Los Angeles or a top 4 in Ontario.
Forward, Tomas Jurco (EDM)
He is 27, has a cap hit of $750,000. Los Angeles needs scoring and speed but Jurco provides scoring and could fit on the 2nd line.
Zemgus Girgensons (BUF)
He is 26, has a cap hit of $1.6M. A veteran who could easily slot in on the 2nd or 3rd line, can contribute offensively and add sandpaper.
Vladislav Namestnikov (COL)
He is 27, has a cap hit of $4m. A bit pricy for the Kings but could provide some offense on the same lines as Girgensons.
The Kings want to upgrade with some NHL talent and have some options. Yes, the Kings want younger, faster and those players may not be ready until the 2020-21 season.
Some of these players may help sneak the Kings back into playoff contention to make another run while the kids get to experience.
Would you like to see the Kings sign some players, sign nobody or bring up the kids and throw them into the fire day 1?
