School is in session…well, from a grading point that is.
Hockey season is well over for the Los Angeles Kings.
Let’s look back and give them grades based on their performance in their position group.
Anze Kopitar – once again he leads by example and gets the job done (A).
Alex Iafallo – starting to come into his own and show the Kings fans he has a bright future. A legit player on this team and could lead them in goals for years to come (A).
Dustin Brown – continues to do the dirty work and lead by example (A-)
Adrian Kempe – showed signs of breaking out, then struggled then showed up late last season, needs consistency (B-).
Jeff Carter – although age is starting to creep up a bit, still showed he can still score goals and contribute (B).
Blake Lizotte – doing exactly what he needs to do to be effective and that is playing defense, contribute a bit on the offensive end and showcase that speed (B-)

Michael Amadio – average season but showing progress (C).
Trevor Lewis – provided leadership while providing some offense (C).
Austin Wagner – showcases blazing speed but needs consistency on offense to be a very good 3rd liner (C).
Martin Frk – showed he can score goals in the NHL and could lead the Kings in goals if not Iafallo. Needs to be an Ovechkin type threat on even strength and Power Play shifts (B-)
Gabe Vilardi – showed great promise in his 10 games, recording 7 points. Could be a fulltime, 2nd line center next year (B).
Trevor Moore – showed great speed and defensive ability needs to provide a bit more offense. (C).
Those are my grades for the Kings’ forward group, next will be defensemen.
Do you agree or disagree with my grades?
