The Los Angeles Lakers are 5-2 so far with the target of the reigning NBA champion on their back.
The new pieces for the Lakers are fitting in just fine. Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, and Wesley Matthews are all productive players so far.

The Lakers are the 4th best offensive team in the league threw 7 games. Alex Caruso is the only player so far to miss games due to Covid-19 protocol. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still the best duos in the league on both ends of the floor.

The Lakers have one of the deepest teams in the league with Harrell, Schroder, Kuzma, and Caruso as key contributors.

This Lakers team is more explosive offensively with the ball movement and great playmakers on the floor.

LeBron James is off to a great start and hasn’t missed a step in his 18th season. James has yet to miss a game due to rest so far because he wants to find his rhythm early in the season.

Anthony Davis is shooting 41% from the 3 point line so far in the season. Frank Vogel has said that he wants Davis to attempt more 3s this season to space the floor for James and Schroder. Davis has been a good 3 point shooter for his career but if he can shoot around 37%, then he can take the Lakers to another level.

Marc Gasol has fit in nicely for the Lakers.

Gasol’s ability to shoot the 3, pass from the high post, and score in the low post is something the Lakers didn’t have last season. Gasol brings a new element to the Lakers offense and he is making Davis and James’s jobs a lot easier.

The Lakers are set to defend their title and if everyone can remain healthy, they can repeat as champions.
