The Los Angeles Chargers have officially moved on from Anthony Lynn, after a roller coaster, we called his 4-year tenure.

Lynn is highly respected around the league and whoever gets him as a part of their staff next will be extremely lucky. Nonetheless, the move had to be made for Los Angeles.

Tom Telesco and Dean Spanos are searching for their next coach, “effective immediately”. More names will release in the near future, but the bulk of the 10-12 candidates that the Bolts will be interviewing have been leaked. I will break it down into the top few guys who Spanos will probably narrow it down to, and go from there.

Considering the Chargers are essentially the most attractive destination for a new head coach, given the loaded roster, cap space, location, and quarterback situation, it shouldn’t be hard to convince someone to choose Los Angeles over anyone else.

Of the candidate’s LA is interviewing, four must be highlighted: Robert Saleh (49ers DC), Brian Daboll (Bills OC), Eric Bieniemy (Chiefs OC), and Joe Brady (Panthers OC). Rumors are swirling that Saleh is favored to return to his former home in Detroit and rejoice with the Lions. Joe Brady is a probable plan B or C because Daboll/Bieniemy should be top priorities in the coming weeks. Daboll has done an amazing job at progressing a very similar style quarterback in Josh Allen, and could be the perfect coach for Justin Herbert to develop further. However, Eric Bieniemy could be the favorite considering the Chargers took a chance on him in the NFL draft when he played as a running back, and he is from California.

The coaching candidates available to us this off-season are all great options and all 4 of the names listed will probably have success wherever they land. The Chargers should narrow it down to Brian Daboll and Eric Bieniemy. One has a Super Bowl under his belt, and the other helped turned a franchise around and would be crucial to developing Herbert. Both coaches offenses have been putting up astronomical numbers in the last couple of seasons as well.

If they can get either one of these guys, the Chargers will be in great hands for the future.
