Once every few years, there comes a player to an NHL club that turns out to be special.
Enter Los Angeles Kings forward Alex Iafallo.

Iafallo signed with the Kings as an undrafted free agent on April 18, 2017. Since then, Iafallo has supplied the Kings and their fans with some unbelievable moments. For his inspired play, the Kings rewarded Iafallo with a new 4 year, $4 million per year deal.

The core of the Kings (Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and Jonathan Quick) are getting older and not the same players they used to be. Time will come when they retire and need a cornerstone player until the new crop comes in.

Iafallo, 6-0, 188 lbs, is a forward with exceptional talent. He is very versatile and can play left-wing or center can play on the power play or penalty kill, and can play on any line. Iafallo has lived up to the hype that surrounded him when he first arrived in King’s camp. He will be looked at as the Kings continue to look toward the future and build on what they have now in pursuit of another Stanley Cup.

Iafallo is the next superstar in the Kings locker room.

He is not going to replace Kopitar because Kopitar simply cannot be replaced. He does have the potential to replace that production.

In 268 NHL games, all with Los Angeles, he has 52 goals and 75 assists for 127 points or roughly a point every other game. Not a Hart Trophy candidate, he can be effective even if left off the score sheet. Iafallo is a coach’s dream and plays a simple yet effective 200-foot game.

Los Angeles Kings fans should appreciate what Iafallo and what he brings to the table.
