The Los Angeles Lakers have had a busy summer highlighted by the acquisition of former MVP Russell Westbrook.
Since signing the 9-time All-Star, the Lakers have been signing several pieces to complement their new big 3 of LeBron, AD, and Westbrook.
Let’s see how the Lakers Depth Chart is looking right now.
- Point Guards // Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn
- Shooting Guards // Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington, Talen Horton-Tucker
- Small Forwards // LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kent Bazemore
- Power Forwards // Anthony Davis, Trevor Ariza
- Centers // Marc Gasol, Dwight Howard
*Two-way/Rookie contracts not included
Looking at what the Lakers have now, they have a good amount of wing options, a fair amount of ball handlers, and a few good shooters as well.
With one or two roster spots still up for grabs, what else do the Lakers need?
Another Solid Big Man

The Lakers could really use another big on the bench. As of now, they only have three true big men in Gasol, Howard, and Davis. They’ll be expected to play small lineups with Melo and Ariza playing the four as well, but if they want to play big, they’re going to need a traditional big who could play both the four and the five.
Some possible bigs that are still on the market are Lauri Markkanen, Paul Millsap, Bismack Biyombo, and Harry Giles, to name a few.
A 3rd String Point Guard
The Purple & Gold do have many ball handlers in Westbrook, Nunn, plus LeBron and Horton-Tucker, who could also have a share of ball-handling duties. But you can never have too many ball handlers on a team. Having more ball handlers will surely put a lot of pressure off LeBron.
Isaiah Thomas, Frank Ntilikina, Brad Wanamaker, and Mike James, some point guards the Lakers can possibly look to acquire.
One More Shooter?
After getting Westbrook, the Lakers needed one thing badly: shooting. They made up some ground there with the signings of Melo, Ellington, Monk, and Ariza. With how the NBA is played now, having players that can shoot the long ball has been such an asset.
There are several shooting specialists the Lakers could still go for, like veteran JJ Redick, former Lakers Troy Daniels or Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, and even E’Twaun Moore is on the board.
The Lakers have a strong team, no doubt, but who do you think can prove to be the best addition to the squad?
