The Los Angeles Lakers are not off to the best start to the 2021-2022 NBA Season. They currently have a 7-6 record best for only 7th in the West

Being one of the favorites to win it all this season, the Lakers aren’t living up to the high expectations just yet. There may be several factors to that as many players are out with injuries, including LeBron James.

Either way, they still got to play games and get some wins. One of the bright sports so far this season? Carmelo Anthony.

The 18-year NBA vet has been off to a stellar start in his 1st year in the Purple & Gold. He’s been one of the fan favorites, providing energy off the bench, knocking down threes, closing out games, and helping provide another veteran voice in the locker room. He’s averaging over 16 points per game, 4th highest on the team behind the big 3 of LeBron, AD, and Russ. He hasn’t done this type of production since his days in Oklahoma City and in New York, and that’s largely thanks to his excellent shooting from behind the arc.

Melo is averaging 3.2 three-pointers per game, 6th best in the league, and he has 41 total threes this season, tied for 4th best in the league behind Stephen Curry, Buddy Hield, and Grayson Allen. And the best part is he’s doing it efficiently, shooting 46.6% from downtown which is 4th best in the NBA.

Carmelo Anthony has been playing such a big role off the bench coming in and providing an instant scoring punch. The Lakers will definitely be needing him to continue his output to help the team contend for another title. Let’s see if Melo and the Lakers can get healthy and start fighting for the top seed in the Western Conference.
