Can Cherundolo Lead LAFC to A Solid Season

Last week LAFC announced the hiring of Steve Cherundolo as the new head coach, but was it the correct move? Cherundolo has had a lot of assistant coaching experience, but not much as a head coach. His most recent job with the Las Vegas Lights, was his first experience as the head boss. Becoming the head coach Vegas Lights on January 19th, 2021 and managing a total of 32 games with six wins, three draws, and twenty three loses. His win percentage with Las Vegas was 18.8 percent. Those are numbers that can worry any fanbase and we know LAFC has one of the most passionate fanbases. It is worrisome because MLS is moving into a faster pace and more offensive style of soccer. We hope Cherundolo can lead the team to glory. However, the numbers are there to prove that he might not succeed with the Black and Gold.

Could Cherundolo be a One and Done

With the league almost upon us and coaches finding places, LAFC was a little behind when it came to finding their next head coach. Juan Carlos Osorio, Antonio Mohamed and Diego Alonso were names thrown out to lead the Black and Gold. However, LAFC decided to hire within and settle with Cherundolo. During the offseason we heard news of Vela looking at other places to play before his option was picked up. After this season he can leave so that could be a huge blow for LAFC. With this star studded team will Cherundolo be able to manage all the egos and lead them to success. We know the 3252 will support in the beginning but if results aren’t appearing they can quickly turn on the coach. We saw that down the stretch when LAFC needed to get the result but came up short, the calling of the head coach came down furiously from the fans.
