LAFC Goes Perfect Against Both Florida Teams

First Half Recap

After defeating Inter Miami on March 12th by a score of 2-0. LAFC would return to Florida but this time they would face off against Orlando City. With their 4-2 victory against Orlando the Black and Gold would continue their great form. They are now the only undefeated team in the Western Conference. This matchup would become very back and forth as both teams were throwing haymakers at each other. LAFC would take the lead in the 24th minute, but Orlando would tie it 12 minutes later. Once again the Black and Gold would take the lead in the 38th minute. Once again Orlando would tie with former LAFC defender Joao Moutinho tying the game in the 45th minute.

Second Half Recap

LAFC would waste no time and would quickly go up once again. This time it would be newly signed midfielder Ilie Sanchez who would make it 3-2. This would be the Spaniard’s first goal with his new club and would pretty much be the go ahead goal. It wouldn’t be until the 93rd minute where Orlando was in full offense and was looking to tie the matchup. However it would be a 3 on 2 for the LAFC offense and Opoku would get the game sealing goal and secure all three points for LAFC. With this victory LAFC positions themselves as the only undefeated team in the Western Conference and stay in first place with 13 points. They will now shift focus as they have a huge game with their rivals the LA Galaxy.

Previewing El Tráfico

The Black and Gold will head to Carson, CA on Saturday April 9th, for the season’s first meeting of El Trafico at Dignity Health Sports Park. This will be the first time that Carlos Vela and Chicharito Hernandez face off against each other, a duel many have been deprived of since Chicharito got to MLS. Both players have scored four goals each during this 2022 season, the only outlier being Vela’s 1 assist. Thus making him involved in a total of 5 goals compared to Hernandez’s 4. No doubt this is a must watch match for any fan of MLS and will definitely be a nail biter for fans of either the Galaxy or LAFC.
