LAFC Win on Easter Sunday
The Black and Gold got back on track after their undefeated streak was snapped last weekend. They would have an early afternoon match on Easter Sunday. The Banc of California Stadium was rocking even on the holiday and that is a great sign. LAFC would eventually take the victory with a 3-1 victory. With goals from Arango, Tajouri-Shradi, and Cifuentes that would be all they would need. It was a good sight to see the team come out with the aggressiveness that was lacking last week against the Galaxy. The Angelinos showed what they have been made of, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to ultimately win 3-1. With this victory they continue to maintain first place in the Western Conference. They are closely followed by Austin FC who have a total of 14 points. With this win they will now shift their focus to the U.S Open cup. Where they will face Orange County SC in the third round. Then they will head to the TQL Stadium to face off against 12th place FC Cincinnati.
Vela Rumored to Return
Late on Tuesday a rumor began to swirl around MLS and a supposed contract extension of LAFC’s biggest and best player up to date; Carlos Vela. A tweet from Doug McIntyre said that a deal was “as good as done” for the former MVP. One of the details from that said extension was that Vela would remain as a DP, “Designated Player”, for the team. For LAFC fans this is great news as their top goalscorer will be staying with them until 2023. Exciting news for the team as he has been there since the start. However, the question is still up in the air if he is going to have the same productivity. While struggling the previous season with injuries, it might have hindered his chances for a new contract. For now the fans must enjoy him and recognize that he has been an integral part of LAFC. He has this season and now next season to try and bring a trophy to the city of Los Angeles.
