LAFC Lose to Austin FC for the First Time in Club History

LAFC welcomed Austin FC on Wednesday, May 18th in what was sure to be an intriguing matchup. The Black and Gold entered this matchup after losing 2-0 to the Colorado Rapids. LAFC looked to return to winning ways after not winning in the past two league games. Once again LAFC got off to a slow start and they would find themselves down 1-0 before 15 minutes. This has become a big issue for the club throughout the season. Their inability to score in the first half and giving up goals has come back to haunt the club this season. LAFC would go full offense in the second half in hopes of trying to tie the game. With their lines pushed up all the way to midfield any giveaway would most likely result in a goal. Unfortunately that was the case and Austin was able to get a second goal. In the 86th minute LAFC would get one back as Vela would bury a penalty and make it 2-1. With this loss it would mark back-to-back losses within a four day span.

LAFC Rebound in Columbus

In a game that was supposed to start at 12:30 PST would actually have a four hour weather delay. LAFC would have to deal with a long night but ultimately football was played. LAFC did a great job this time in not conceding a first half goal playing some really solid defense. The game would go tied at the half and it was up for anyone to grab. In the 61st minute LAFC would pounce on a mistake by the Crew’s midfielder Darlington Nagbe. Where he poked the ball back into no man’s land and Vela was able to pounce on it. Getting one on one with the keeper and burying the ball in the back of the net. LAFC would capitalize on another error committed by Columbus’s midfielder Darlington Nagbe. A goal kick was played out with him but the conditions on the pitch forced the player to slip and allowed Cifuentes to take advantage as he was practically one on one with the keeper. With this, LAFC closed out the game and walked away with the victory.

LAFC Looking for Revenge in the Open Cup

Tonight Wednesday, May 25th LAFC will have the opportunity to avenge their loss in the El Trafico. As they will travel to Carson for a round of 16 US Open Cup matchup. This will be the first time ever they play against each other in the Open Cup. The Black and Gold have struggled to play in Carson so hopefully they can flip the script and begin to win in their rivals’ stadium. Former LAFC player Raheem Edwards had some particularly interesting words to say I want to beat LAFC so bad. I want to beat them because of the 3252,” he said Tuesday. ”I want to piss them off.” Which has sparked some responses from many fans criticizing him and his play. This is already heating up and bragging rights are on the line as these two teams will play for  a spot in the next round of this prestigious cup.
