LAFC and Their Defense Falter Once Again
First Half Analysis
Well the international break is over and we finally got some MLS action back into our lives. This past weekend the Black and Gold would make the trip up North. Taking on the reigning Concacaf Champions, the Seattle Sounders. It would be a tight first half with both teams struggling to create chances. However, LAFC led the charge and were the more dangerous team throughout the first half. Once again Stefan Frei held his ground, as he usually does, and denied LAFC all game long. The two teams would go tied into the half.
Second Half Analysis
Remember how we mentioned that LAFC has just signed Giorgio Chiellini, well he’s gonna have to debut sooner rather than later. There is still some worry about the clubs defending and it reared its ugly head once again. Trying to play from the back has not been LAFC’s style and this time they paid for it. A pass back to Crepeau saw him trying to play the ball off quickly. However, he would leave the pass short and Albert Rusnak would steal the ball from the 18 yard box. From there he had a clear opportunity and would bury the ball in the back of the net. Leading to another frustrating goal given up by the club. Hopefully with the signing of Chiellini this defense can get it together. As the way they are playing it will definitely cost them when it matters. Other than this tiny issue the game was for the taking for LAFC. It would come down to a 79th minute goal by Chicho Arango that allowed LAFC to walk away from Lumen Field with a point. With this draw LAFC maintains its position as the best team in MLS with 30 points. They will face off this Sunday the 26 against the New York Red Bulls.
