LAFC Make it Look So Easy

The Black and Gold would travel to Utah to take on Real Salt Lake for week 23 of MLS.  The club has continued to sit atop of the Western Conference and have high probability of winning the Supporters Shield. This victory only increased those probabilities. As LAFC would walk into Sandy, Utah and defeat RSL by a whopping 4-1 that included a Chicho Arango brace and Gareth Bale’s second goal in MLS. The first 20 minutes were full of incredible action. Which included three total goals, two from LAFC and one by RSL. Chicho would open up the scoring in the 9th minute with a beautiful back-heel golazo. Cordova would tie the game in the 12th minute for the home team. Then in the 17th minute a rocket from Kellyn Acosta put LAFC up for good. The Black and Gold would not look back and would end the half up 2-1.

Real Salt Lake came out firing on all cylinders in the 2nd half. They would dominate the first 15 minutes but could breakthrough LAFC’s defense. Great saves from Crepeau and timely tackles from the defense helped preserve the lead. Then in the 60th minute Chicho would add another goal and nab himself a brace. With this goal he now has 11 goals on the season and leads the club. Fro there it would just be preserving the game and made sure not to receive another goal. To round out the night Gareth Bale would score his second goal this season in the 87th minute. A vintage run by Bale allowed him to get by two players and he squeezed down the line and scored LAFC’s fourth goal. This win marks their fifth straight and they continue to put the league on notice.

MLS All Star Game

LAFC would send three players to years All Star game with those names being: Carlos Vela, Ilie Sanchez, and Diego Palacios. Three standout names this season but any fan will tell you they could’ve sent anybody on the roster and no one would bat an eye. The festivities started on Tuesday, August 9th with the skills challenge. Where MLS proclaimed their dominance as they would win against Liga MX. A big talking point this All Star game has been if MLS has caught up and surpassed Liga MX. Many of the MLS stars said there getting close but not yet there. MLS has grown so much in the past five years.  They continue to get better year in and year out. Just this year a MLS club finally won the Concacaf Champions League. Showing the impressive steps the league has taken to improve its quality. Now they will go to battle against Liga MX’s best and hopefully the MLS can make it 2-0 against Liga MX.

LAFC Takes Over Dodger Stadium

While some were in Minnesota for the All Star activities and game a few renowned names made their way up to Dodger Stadium for LAFC Night. Those who made it to Dodger stadium included: Gareth Bale, Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango, Kellyn Acosta, Eddie Segura, Maxime Crepeau, Jesus Murillo, and Jose Cifuentes. This has now become a yearly event where the Dodgers will give out special LAFC x Dodger merchandise. The crossover has a great turnout and hopefully these events can continue going on for the foreseeable future.
