The transfer window continues to surface rumors on player transfers and this time it is with Honduran Alebert Elis. There has been a lot of talk in recent days about Elis making his way from France to LAFC. A move that surfaced in the last few days but nothing concrete yet. Some sources saying that Elis could see his move to Los Angeles in the next few days, while others say it might not even happen. Here’s the latest with the Elis rumors.

Definitely interested.

While nothing has been concrete and different sources say something different, there does seem to be concrete evidence that LAFC is interested in the player. With the departure of Cristian Tello to the Middle East, the club is looking for someone to take over that spot. Yesterday, journalist Clement Carpentier of France Bleu Gironde reported that Elis had chosen LAFC and the deal could be a loan with an option to buy for around 5 million euros. Another French journalist reported the same thing but with a twist. The French club wanted a 500k loan fee paid by LAFC which the club did not agree to. Earlier today, MLS insider Bob Bogert reported that Elis to LAFC was far from being a done deal, which aligned with what a part of the French press had reported. Later on Bogert would report that the transfer move was off and that Elis is also talking to other MLS clubs.

Elis’ past in MLS

Elis is a very versatile forward, he’s able to play on either wing and even as a center forward. During his time in MLS, he played for the Houston Dynamo from 2017-2020 where he played 101 games and registered 35 goals and 28 assists and won the U.S Open Cup in the 17/18 season. Elis has played in France since the 21/22 season with Bordeaux where he has played 40 games and scored 10 goals and 3 assists. Currently Bordeaux is in the second division of French football.

The Elis move to LAFC seems very unlikely at the moment but there definitely is interest. He would be a good player under the proper deal, a fast, versatile player that can drift wide to either side of the pitch and even play as a center forward to give Arango rest when needed.
