First Preseason Win!
The Black and Gold continue with their preseason as they faced off against a familiar face. A Toronto FC team led by the clubs first ever coach, Bob Bradley. LAFC entered their final game of the Coachella Valley Invitational in hopes of leaving with a .500 record. As they had lost to DC United in their previous game. It would be a bang-bang start to the game as just six minutes had passed by, and we were tied 1-1. Once again, the opening goal came from LAFC’s winger Denis Bouanga. Who has been on an absolute tear this preseason. Ultimately the two teams went into the break tied at 1. In the second half it would once again be Denis Bouanga who would restore the lead for the Black and Gold. Bringing his total of goals scored to three this preseason. It would also be a win against their former coach. LAFC will now shift focus as they will face off against the San Diego Loyal in their final preseason matchup.
High Expectations for Denis Bouanga
Denis had a clutch moment in 2022 when he scored the game winning goal against the Timbers to give LAFC their second Supporters’ Shield. However, it’s been a quiet start to his MLS career. With Bale’s retirement the club will definitely have to lean on Bouanga even more. Head coach Cherundolo has said that “Bouanga is in the prime of his career. He’s physically a monster. He’s tactically disciplined.” With high praise from his coach and the monster preseason he’s having, its’s hard not to get excited about Denis and the teams future. LAFC will face off against the San Diego Loyal of the USL. With this match signaling the end of preseason and then LAFC will shift focus to the season oper at the Rose Bowl against their rivals the LA Galaxy. MLS is right around the corner and we can’t wait for it to start!
