Los Angeles Kings center Blake Lizotte knew the odds were against him when he came to the NHL as an undrafted free agent. He had plenty of motivation to prove teams wrong as he skated onto NHL ice. Not only has he done just that, but he has also solidified himself as one of the most important pieces to the King’s puzzle.
Los Angeles Kings Lizotte proving size does not matter
Lizotte was never going to be an MVP candidate or win the Hart Trophy. He turned out to be a reliable and dependable fourth-line center who excels at the little things. He does the dirty work in the corners and can line up with the biggest offensive stars, all while playing a sound defensive game. So what has been with his offensive play during the 2022/23 NHL season?

Lizotte has had an outstanding year while the Los Angeles Kings fight for the top spot in the Pacific Division. While the team as a whole is determined to take that top spot., Lizotte has certainly done his part to help the team succeed. Lizotte has a career-high 28 points on nine goals and 19 assists. He also has a career-high 39 penalty minutes as well in his fourth-line position. He had two goals and four assists in his last six games, and five points in his last four games played. What is remarkable about Lizotte’s season is who he has played with and how much he has produced offensively. This entire season Lizotte has had many different line combinations with many different wingers. While that may be complicated for some centers, Lizotte has flourished in that role, as evident by his offensive production.
Many fans will look at Kings goaltender Pheonix Copley or winger Kevin Fiala for the team’s success, but Lizotte has played a big part in where the team is now. Lizotte has played just as important a role as anyone on the team while seeing less ice time. He is tremendous at both ends of the ice and has a no-quit attitude. Lizotte is just as successful as any Kings player, just in a different role.
