LAFC to Make Home Debut
After the inclement weather cancelled the most highly anticipated game of week 1 ‘El Trafico’. LAFC will make their home debut at BMO Stadium as they will take on their Pacific Northwest rivals the Portland Timbers. Last time these two teams met LAFC walked away with a last-minute victory that crowned them the 2022 MLS Supporters’ Shield. Now Portland will have the opportunity to play spoiler in LAFC’s debut and inaugural game after becoming the 2022 MLS Champions. Portland enters this match after escaping with a narrow 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City. While LAFC is still play a competitive match since their epic MLS Cup Final game against the Union. It will be interesting to see how fit the team is and if the players can go a full 90 minutes of intense action.
Two Evenly Matched Sides
LAFC boasts a 6-5-5 record against the Timbers with 27 goals in favor and 22 against. Showing just how even these two sides have been when they face off against one another. Rarely has there ever been a game in which one team has dominated the other. LAFC’s biggest win against the Timbers was only by three goals in a 4-1 win back in 2019. Other than that, these two teams have had nail bitters every time they matched up. Expect once again another close game where a simple mistake could lead either team to victory.
