Los Angeles Kings Sign Two to Entry Level Deals
While the Los Angeles Kings wind down their season in a fight for the Pacific Division lead, The Kings management team is still going strong. While the Kings roster is solid from top to bottom, the AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, are getting some reinforcements. A few weeks ago, the Kings acquired defenseman Cole Krygier from the Florida Panthers for future considerations and signed him to a two-year entry level deal with an AAV of $837, 500. The team also signed right winger Alex Laferriere to an entry level deal, both players will be reporting to the Reign.
Krygier played his college career at Michgan State University. This season, he had 10 goals and six assists for 16 points in 38 games. He made his pro hockey debut with the Reign shortly after he signed his deal, appearing in one game and scoring no points. At 6-foot-3 and 192 pounds, Krygier gives the Kings organization some size on the blueline. He is a capable depth piece that is comfortable playing in any situation. As for the current Kings roster, he has the same playing style as Mikey Anderson.
Laferriere spent the 2022/23 with Harvard University and played 34 games, totaling 21 goals and 21 assists for 42 points. He was also a +13 and had 20 penalty minutes. Laferriere was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 83rd overall in the 2020 NHL draft. Laferriere can play a variety of situations while playing a feisty, offensive game. He can be lethal on the power play as well as a regular shift. Similar playing style to former Kings player, Tyler Toffoli. Good overall player that could see the NHL sooner than later.
General manager Rob Blake is not sitting still. As well as the Los Angeles Kings playing, Blake still wants to add to the future success of the organization, which he did by bringing Krygier and Laferriere aboard.The Los Angeles Kings are a deep organization roster wise but an organization can never have enough depth. Blake is seizing the opportunity to get these two players some time playing at the pro level so when their time comes they can fit right into the Kings lineup. Krygier and Laferriere are going to supply fresh energy and play their style of game. Fresh faces with a new energy can only mean good things for the Los Angeles Kings organization in the near future.
