Amid a mid-season identity crisis, LAFC continues to break records in MLS.

The Fastest Club to Reach 300 Points

After narrowly defeating Sporting Kansas City over the weekend, LAFC becomes the quickest team to reach 300 points. Along with them, they were snapping a six-game losing streak in all competitions. LAFC reached this milestone with four games to spare as the Seattle Sounders held this record needing 178 games to reach 300 points. The Chicago Fire, LA Galaxy, and New York City FC are rounding out the list. All need under 200 games to achieve this milestone.

This just shows how dominant LAFC has been these past 5 years. Twice they have won the Supporters’ Shield trophy. A trophy is awarded to the team with the most points in all of MLS. In those two seasons, LAFC had a combined 139 points!

Why This Milestone Matters

LAFC, since its inception, have shown that to be at the top, you must do top-level things. Their state-of-the-art stadium in Downtown LA is top-notch. Their Supporter Section, the 3252, is the best in the league. Their owners are some of the top-known names in the world. The product on the pitch has had some of the top names in all of football history. So it is no coincidence or luck that they reached this milestone the fastest.

It also shows that when a group or owner cares about their image/product, they will do anything to ensure they are the best. This milestone also shows that while many players have come and gone, they have been able to adapt to the team’s culture and ideas.

No one has put themselves over the club, no matter how big the name is. They have competed at a top level and continue doing so. Even with a change in management, they have found themselves, if not the best team, one of the best in all of MLS.

Worst Stretch (Hopefully) Coming to an End

After the embarrassment of the CONCACAF Champions League Final, LAFC needs to flip the script and return to their old ways, going five straight games without a victory. This is an unusual version of LAFC we are seeing as they have spoiled us fans with being an outstanding team.

Year after year, they have competed at the highest level and are always challenged for a spot in the playoffs. With their win against Sporting KC, Los Angelinos have eased these rocky past few weeks and will hope to turn the tide in their favor.

However, the next few weeks will once test the club as they will face some tough opponents. Including an El Trafico on July 4th at none other than the mythical Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Included in this upcoming month is the Leagues Cup. – a tournament between MLS and Liga MX.

With many key matchups ahead of them, LAFC is in store for a couple of big months.
