A year ago, on June 27th, 2022, LAFC signed Welsh international superstar Gareth Bale.
While his stint might have been a little lackluster in terms of overall performance, Gareth will have his name written in LAFC history.

Bale Introduce as a Black and Gold Member

With an iconic game-tying goal against the Philadelphia Union to his name. Down 3-2 with seconds left to spare in the 2022 MLS Cup, Bale would header in the tie. Ultimately sending the game into penalty kicks, where LAFC would win. Bale arguably is the biggest name that LAFC has signed up to date. It also marked a turning point in LAFC’s short history – turning them into a star-studded super team and showing they have what it takes to land the top names in football.

While Gareth spent most of the time either injured or not in the squad, it was a spectacle when he played. Fans bought tickets to see him on the bench, and when he played, all eyes were on him.

While the performance expectations fell a little short, if you go and ask LAFC fan’s what they think of Bale, all will have the same answer as he became a cult hero with his goal. Bale, just like he did in 2018 when he scored that exceptional bicycle kick, will be known as Mr. Finals. He was showing up when the club needed him the most.

Overall what Bale did for LAFC is make them a legit powerhouse team in MLS and kind of took away the attention from their rivals, the LA Galaxy, as they became the hottest team in Los Angeles and continue doing so.

Gareth will forever be cherished and appreciated by the 3252 and all of LAFC’s fans for what he did for this team.
