Wayne Rooney announced the MLS All-Stars roster, and Major League Soccer announced the MLS All-Stars Skills Challenge roster versus Arsenal Football Club.

LAFC’s Dénis Bouanga is among the ten players honored to compete in the 2023 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, and he is part of the MLS All-Stars 28-team roster.

Meanwhile, Ryan Hollingshead is also part of the MLS All-Stars squad against Arsenal the day after MLS All-Stars Skills Challenge.

Dénis Bouanga

Bouanga has been excellent this season, scoring 11 goals and two assists across 16 appearances. The Gabonese is the second top scorer in the league with 12 goals, behind only Hany Mukhtar with 13 goals. In this campaign, Bouanga was named the MLS Team of the Day five times and Player of Matchday for Matchday 7.

Denis’s goals and contribution sent LAFC to the top of the Western Conference League in the last few months. After scoring seven goals and four assists, Bouanga earned the CONCACAF Champions League Golden Boot honors. He was also selected as among the best 11 of the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League. Although he is experiencing bad form, Denis can score goals and win games for LAFC.

Ryan Hollingshead

Ryan Hollingshead, on the other hand, is among the 26 players honored to compete against Arsenal. Hollingshead, selected by Wayne Rooney, will participate on July 19 against Arsenal.

Hollingshead has been exceptional in defense for LAFC and deserves to be part of the 28-team roster. His experience, quality, ability to play short passes, and courage to tackle his opponents have been great. Hollingshead scored just one goal this season, but last season, he scored six goals for LAFC.

Players joining the MLS All-Stars tell a lot about the player. It means Bouanga and Hollingshead both have been exceptional this season. They helped LAFC bring home MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield titles in 2022. Moreover, they will play against an Arsenal team close to winning the Premier League Title.

The MLS All-Stars have faced Premier League sides nine times in their past, winning five games and losing four fixtures.
The last time the MLS All-Stars played Arsenal was back in 2016, with Arsenal securing a 2-1 win.
