Los Angeles Football Club will take on Real Salt Lake in the Leagues Cup Round of 16 on Tuesday, August 8, at BMO Stadium.
After an impressive performance against FC Juarez last Wednesday, beating the Mexican Side 7-1.
LAFC are confident and prepared to take on Real Salt Lake, who beat Mexican Club Leon 3-1.
The Black and Gold had a two-week break before playing FC Juarez. LAFC had two weeks to train, recharge their batteries, and focus on another trophy.
Since Los Angeles won the MLS Cup 2022, they automatically qualified for the round of 32, along with Pachuca.
Now they will face Real Salt Lake, excelling in the MLS. They have the same amount of points as LAFC, with 37 points, but LAFC has a higher goal difference. Also, LAFC will meet an old friend in Cristian Arango, who was in the Black and Gold. He scored 32 MLS goals in two years and will be ready to spoil the party.
LAFC and Real Salt Lake faced off in May, and LAFC won 3-0 at America First Field. But it won’t be easy, as Real Salt Lake won nine games in 13 matches in all competitions. They drew three MLS games and lost to Monterrey 3-0 in the Leagues Cup.
The Claret and Cobalt are also in the U.S. Open Cup semi-final and will face Houston Dynamo.
LAFC can’t underestimate Real Salt Lake; they are on form and will go for the win.
If LAFC wins, they will advance to the quarter-finals and face Tigres or Monterrey.
