Los Angeles FC lost their first game of the 2024 MLS season against Real Salt Lake 3-0 at America First Field. Following a good victory against the Seattle Sounders last week on a sunny Saturday.

It wasn’t a good snowy day for the Black and Gold although it was fascinating for fans. However, the weather conditions affected the match, and was detained for three hours and LAFC coach Steve Cherundolo was unhappy.

“It was impossible conditions,” said Steve Cherundolo, “I feel terrible for the players that we put them through this.”

“It was an absolute joke we had to play today. It was one of the worst professional sporting events I’ve ever seen in my life,” said Cherundolo.

“The game could have and should have been called [off]. In my opinion, it was an absolute disgrace we had to play today.”

Although he doesn’t like the weather conditions, the game had to resume and not make excuses. Any team can win despite how bad the weather is and It wasn’t LAFC day.

Despite both teams struggling to connect passes as thick, windblown flurries fell sideways and the ball sometimes stopped altogether on the snow-covered pitch LAFC had 90 minutes to win the game.

RSL did well in the first half thanks to two goals by Andrés Gómez and former LAFC player Cristian Arango. Meanwhile, in the first half, LAFC got bullied, unconfirmable, and lacked ideas. There was a Mateusz Bogusz’s chance who blasted the ball from outside the box but was punched away by RSL goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

However, in the second half, LAFC slowly grew to the game for 25 minutes but failed to score. An Arron Long header and Denis Bouanga strike nearly got LAFC back to the game but both chances hit the post.

In the 82nd minute RSL player, Braian Ojeda was shown a red card, but LAFC was still unable to capitalize on the advantage.

LAFC new players David Martínez and Tomás Angel made their LAFC debut but failed to save the Black and Gold.

LAFC must now bounce back on Saturday, March 9, when they play versus Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles at 7:30 pm.
