RECAP: Three Main Points After LAFC Victory Against Colorado Rapids, 3-0

59 second read
LAFC beat fourth-place Colorado Rapids in a comfortable 3-0, thanks to hat-trick hero Mateusz Bogusz.
The Black and Gold have now won 11 games in a row, and no team can’t stop LAFC.

Despite a challenging start, LAFC is regaining its form, reminiscent of its past two successful seasons.

Bogusz’s three-goal spree has propelled LAFC to the top of the Western Conference League, tying them with their rivals, the LA Galaxy, at 40 points.

Following Los Angeles’s impressive win, there are three key points to discuss.

Let’s dive into these crucial aspects.

1) Mateusz Bogusz on Fire

Bogusz is on fire, as he scored 12 goals this season. He is one goal behind teammate Deins Bouanga with 13 and four behind Cristian Arango with 16.

After LAFC’s 3-1 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes in May, Bogusz stepped up, scoring nine goals in 11 appearances. On Saturday night, he was in the right place at the right time. Bouanga crossed the ball, passing three Colorado Rapids defenders, and Bogusz scored from close range.

The Polish didn’t hesitate to score his second goal. He intervened in the middle of the box and took his shot, sending the ball back into the net. In the 71st  minute, Timothy Tillman and Kei Kamara’s combination found Bogusz passing through Colorado Rapids’ defense and scored his first MLS hat-trick.

Bogusz’s absence from the Poland squad for the Euros is a blessing, as LAFC needed his quality. But at the same time, he’s still young, and Poland has great players up front and in the middle. If his epic performance continues, he will soon be in the squad for Poland.

2) Hugo Lloris Keeps Saving

World Cup winner Hugo Lloris now has eight clean sheets this season, not bad for a 37-year-old keeper. Last Saturday, he had a relaxing night and saved two shots in 90 minutes. In the past two months, he conceded four goals. Let’s give credit to the defenders as well.

Overall, Colorado didn’t lay a foot to LAFC and had a horrendous night at the BMO stadium.

3) Chemistry is Showing

LAFC’s chemistry is slowly showing in every game with the new players. After a massive clearout in the winter transfer window, LAFC had to make changes by adding players, and manager Steve Cherundolo changed things tactically.

It wasn’t easy initially; LAFC was in 7th place in the season’s early stages. However, the Black and Gold pushed to adapt, and Cherundolo made the changes on time.

LAFC is starting to score more goals, and the defense is getting stronger. In the game against Colorado Rapids, LAFC pressed their rivals and made great combinations, especially for the first and third goals.

The Black and Gold now scored nine goals in two games.
In the game against San Jose Earthquakes, LAFC won 6-2, and those games should be enough to show the LA Galaxy that they are ready for the battle this Thursday on Independence Day.
