Kings Start 2025 With Fantastic Home Record
Entering the 2024-25 NHL season, the Los Angeles Kings knew if they were good at home and .500 on the road, they would have a good chance at a playoff spot.

No one saw this coming, as they have one of the best home records in the league at 12-2-1 for 25 points.
Their .833 points percentage is also among the best as they look to continue their dominance in 2025 at the Crypto.com arena.
Kings Show Dominance at Home
Los Angeles has taken last season as a challenge to get better this season at home. They had 22 home wins all of last season. They are off to a fantastic start, and one reason why they are second in the Pacific Division with a 21-10-5 record. At home, they are outscoring opponents 53-32, are 25.7% on the power play, have a 12.7 shooting percentage, 27-22 average shots per game average, and a .906 save percentage.
The Kings have a winning record on the road with a 9-8-4 record. While it is a bit better than a .500 record, this is what most teams aim for: a tremendous home record and a winning record on the road. The Kings rely on the last line change, which has been crucial at home in the early going. Los Angeles plays a suffocating style at home while playing a more conventional style on the road. The Kings are no longer playing the 1-3-1 defensive style, and it is paying off in the neutral zone as the opposition has nowhere to go.
As important as this season is for Los Angeles to advance past the first round of the playoffs, they must also gain home-ice advantage.
The only way to do that is to win the home games and finish the regular season as one of the top two teams in their division.
The Kings have been good but must be dominant and are well on their way. Their 12 home wins this season are only behind the Vegas Golden Knights (15), Winnipeg Jets (14), and Dallas Stars (13).
Once the playoff season begins, those teams will likely compete with the Kings for one of the top spots in the Western Conference.
The Kings have high expectations for 2025 and are rolling right now to open up the new year.
