Kings Announce 2026-27 Preseason Games
The 2026-2027 NHL schedule has yet to be released, but we got a small taste of what is to come.
The Los Angeles Kings released the preseason schedule, and it all begins on September 19th.
Some changes to the preseason this season as we prepare for a change in the regular season schedule.
The Kings will begin the preseason on September 19th against the Vegas Golden Knights. This game will take place at the Toyota Center in Ontario, California, as part of the 2026 Empire Classic.
Next, Los Angeles comes to Crypto.com Arena to face the Utah Mammoth on September 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
Los Angeles then begins a back-to-back against the rival Anaheim Ducks. The first game takes place September 23rd at the Honda Center in Anaheim at 7:00 p.m. The second game will take place at 1:00 p.m. on September 26th at Crypto.com Arena.
The preseason schedule will be reduced from six games to four this season. The NHL has reduced the preseason as part of a massive overhaul as the league moves towards the new 84-game schedule. The league officials have introduced this change on part to reduce the number of injuries that have occurred over the past several.
The Kings have already made changes to the organization, and there may be roster changes coming soon.
Los Angeles recently appointed Peter Laviolette as the 32nd coach in franchise history. They have also named Phil Housley as their assistant coach, joining Newell Brown and Matt Greene to round out the coaching staff. Mike Buckley will return this season as the Kings’ goaltending coach.
This is the first step to prepare for the 2026-2027 season.
Former Kings captain Anze Kopitar is retired, and head coach D.J. Smith is no longer behind the bench. What other changes will we see?
Who will they pick in the 2026 NHL draft? Will we see a big trade at the draft or after? Will they make a splash in free agency?
The roster is certain to look different than last season, but some say change is good.
We will see when the Kings take the ice in late September.
